Hi Everyone,

It’s hard to believe we are at the end of week 7 already. After a challenging start to the school year we are starting to see some of the ‘normal’ school activities recommence including Marion Youth visits, excursions and after school sports. Over the coming weeks we look forward to Sports Day on Thursday 14th April, at this stage the school community is welcome to attend following SA Health social distancing guidelines.

Next week, children in years 3 and 5 will be sitting a practice NAPLAN test. This test is to check that our technology works and not to assess the children. The real NAPLAN test is in weeks 2 and 3 next term.

On Friday 4th March our students participated in Clean Up Your School Day by helping to clean up around our school. It was great to see the students demonstrating responsibility and respect for their school environment.

Our school AGM was postponed until Term 2 due to COVID. Please add Monday 23rd May to your calendar if you would like to come along and be part of our Governing Council. More information will be sent home early Term 2.

HCSPS has been chosen to join the Children’s University program that Adelaide University run. Today, Gemma from CUA, visited us and talked to the classes about the opportunities CUA offers. This is an amazing program where students get to experience new learning opportunities – online and in person. Students are able to join until the end of term. If you would like more information contact the school for an information sheet. Gemma will return to HCSPS on April 12th at 3pm to present the students with their passports. She will be available to chat with their parents at this session.

I am happy to announce that I will be continuing here next term while the process for finding a new principal for HCSPS gets underway. I look forward to working with the community for the benefit of the school.

Kind regards

Donna O’Leary
