This week we celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day gives people the opportunity to share and celebrate the diverse culture we all live in. It’s also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live. The theme for Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’. Students were able to wear cultural dress or the colour orange on Harmony Day.
This week has seen the start of the Pre-school playground upgrade. The children were very excited to see the workers using their equipment. It will be lots of fun for the children when it is finished.
Student free days and School Closure Day
Each year schools are allowed to have some Student Free Days for staff training. These days allow us to come together as a whole staff and update our skills and school learning policies. The Governing Council has approved the following dates:
- Monday May 2
- Monday July 25
- Monday October 17
We also have a school closure day on Friday 2nd December.
COVID Update
It’s vitally important that you please keep your child/ren home if they are:
- unwell
- experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms
- any other member of the household has COVID-19
- they are a close contact for a person who has COVID-19 and are required to quarantine
Please refer to the SA Health website if you need more information.
AGM
On May 23rd we will be holding our AGM for our Governing Council. This is a way to be involved in your child/ren’s schooling. The Governing Council meet twice a term at 6pm on a Monday night. Why not come along and have a laugh and chat with other parents while helping to make decisions about the school. More information will be coming out early next Term, including nomination forms and meeting details.
Professional Learning
Yesterday and today, Vicki and I were lucky to be part of a Professional Learning program which will guide us to plan for more school improvement. We have already started planning for improvement in two areas.
Kind regards
